Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a courtesy call on Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia in New Delhi. The Chief Minister discussed the matters related to the strengthening of air services in the state of Uttarakhand with the Union Minister.
In order to make the Airstrip located in Pithoragarh more viable from the point of view of air services, the Chief Minister handed over the survey to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and after the tender process for air service from Pithoragarh under the Regional Connectivity Scheme. Requested to direct the concerned for smooth operation.
The Chief Minister apprised the Union Minister about the in-principle decisions taken earlier and said that under the Regional Connectivity Scheme of the Government of India, in-principle consent was given on the proposal of the State Government to point to point the pre-approved route. Also, in the regional connectivity scheme, assurance was given to allow single engine helicopter for the helicopter service to be operated in the state of Uttarakhand. Pawan Hans Ltd. has been sanctioned three flights a week by the Airports Authority of India under the Regional Connectivity Scheme. It was agreed in principle that the issue of providing air services in Kumaon region by Pawan Hans Ltd. on other days of the week would be considered.
The Chief Minister also urged the Union Minister to direct the concerned to take necessary action at the earliest for the implementation of all the above in-principle decisions.
Additional Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan, Secretary Shri Shailesh Bagoli were also present on the occasion.
